This is an unmarked and unofficial trail so exact distance and elevation gain is not known. From the parking area at Stoney Trailhead we will hike along an easy, flat trail up to Troll Falls and then explore further on up the creek. There are several more picturesque waterfalls as we make our way along. This is a magical place at any time of the year, and in winter there are many awesome photo opp's.

Be prepared for several short & steep up and downhill climbs - sometimes having to grab onto roots and branches to pull yourself up.

The trail from Troll Falls onward will be icy, snowy and slippery. ICE CLEATS ARE ESSENTIAL! "Icers" from Lee Valley Tools are the ones we most often hear recommended by other C.O.C. hikers.

The ice formations can be dangerous so please use caution.

- Sturdy Hiking boots
- Ice cleats, which strap onto your hiking shoes and are awesome for traction in icy conditions.
- Warm and layered clothing appropriate to the weather, including gloves and a hat

West on the Trans Canada, then south on Highway 40 and turn right towards the Nakiska Ski Area. Just before heading up the hill to Nakiska, take a right-hand turn onto "Stoney Trail" (marked with a small blue street sign.)

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $79.20 (calculated at total Km * $0.33, effective Monday, October 5, 2026). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle.
