Itinerary:
This event is for Strong Beginners and Newly Intermediate skiers. It is expected that you have a reasonable fitness level and that your routine includes cardio activity. If you are a new beginner, this event is not for you. Our pace will be relaxed and we will stop for quick breaks only.

We will meet at the Information Center in Lake Louise and go to the trail head from there. Pipestone is a combination of blue and green single track loop trails. We will ski between 13 and 18 km. Following this we will to to Chateau Lake Louise to view the ice sculptures.

Winter Safety Considerations

Terrain Classification: This event is exempted from avalanche planning because it is on groomed x-c ski routes.

Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are not trained guides. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road conditions, current weather conditions, current trail conditions and current avalanche conditions for the trip.


Required Items to Bring:
- If you do not have a park pass, please be prepared to chip in a few dollars to the person whose pass you are using for the day.
- Remember to dress in warm layers!

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take the Trans Canada Highway west from Calgary, past Banff. Take the Lake Louise turn-off and head in. Past the lights, you'll see a strip mall on the right. Park in the lot there. The information center is at the opposite end of the parking lot from the mall.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $120.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Saturday, April 20, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
