Itinerary:
So you can get around on your XC skis... Do you want to go to the next level and learn some techniques to make you faster and more efficient? If so, this is the event for you!

This session will be a 2hr group ski lesson followed by a lunch break and a one hour waxing lesson at the Canmore Nordic Centre, offered by George Smith of the Calgary Nordic Training Group.

Please note: There is a $75.00* charge for the lesson, plus an additional $10.00 to purchase your trail pass at the Nordic Centre. (*If you are attending the afternoon Skate Ski lesson as well, your total for both lessons is $115, not $150.)

This event is best suited to novice / intermediate skiers who are comfortable on their skis, and who can execute snowplow turns and stops. Topics covered in the lesson include:

1) Diagonal Stride, Weight Transfer, Body Position, Flexion / Extension and Timing.
2) Double Poling Technique and Body Position
3) One Step Double Poling Technique and Weight Transfer, Body Position.
4) Introduction to Lane Changes.
5) Hill technique: Herringbone, 1/2 Herringbone, Running, and an introduction to Step Turns.

Skiers may use either waxless or waxed skis for this session. Those without their own skis may rent skis in Calgary, or at the Nordic Centre (Trail Sports). Please remember to reserve ahead of time.

Payment: You must pay in full when registering or you will be moved to the waiting list. Payment can be made either through Paypal or email Interac e-Transfer. Send payment to sdorton@shaw.ca and include your COC username and the name of the event. If using e-Transfer, use the same email address. Please DO NOT SEND ME PAYMENT IF YOU ARE ON THE WAITLIST - thanks!


**Absolutely no refunds unless I can find a replacement for you! If you have to cancel, the person who will take your spot will pay you directly. Your coordinator will not be dealing with payment beyond the original payment.

- Grip wax if you have it / need it
- $10 for Trail fee (pay at Nordic Centre)

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $77.55 (calculated at total Km * $0.33, effective Sunday, May 10, 2026). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
