Itinerary:
Plan is to do the Le Tour de Koocanusa and enjoy the Libby Montana River Front Blues Festival that happens the same weekend as the tour.

The tour is 83 miles (134 km) around Lake Koocanusa and is a fund raiser for the David Thompson Search and Rescue foundation. The tour is on Saturday August 10th and is well supported with food along the way.

On Saturday evening we will attend the Blues Festival.

  • Fri 10:00 - Depart Calgary
  • Fri 15:00 - Arrive Libby (MT time)
  • Fri 18:00 - Dinner
  • Sat 07:00 - Depart Libby for ride.
  • Sat 08:00 - Start Tour
  • Sat 14:00 - Complete ride
  • Sat 14:00 - Enjoy BBQ at Dam
  • Sat 15:00 - Return to Libby.
  • Sat 16:00 - Clean up
  • Sat 18:00 - Dinner
  • Sat 19:00 - Blues Festival
  • Sun 09:00 - Depart Libby
  • Sun 16:00 - Arrive Calgary (Calgary time)

Riders must be capable of riding the 134 km (5-6 hours) loop.

Note: Participants will be responsible for:
  • Arranging their own hotel accommodations
  • Registering and paying for the tour
  • The price includes entry for the blues festival on Saturday evening
  • Food and meals

As the date gets closer carpool arrangements will be facilitated.


Required Items to Bring:
  • Road bike
  • Helmet **No Exceptions**
  • Gloves
  • Snacks
  • Water
  • Tire repair kit, at least 1 spare tube.
  • A chain repair kit suitable for the chain on your bike.
  • The proper clothing for the day, either wet or dry

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $300.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Friday, March 29, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
