Itinerary:
We will start Saturday morning at the Barrier Lake Dam, prep the boats, then paddle in to the Jewell Bay campsite.

For those without boats there is an optional backpack hike in.

It is preferable you have some experience packing a kayak for camp if you're paddling in to the camp, wind can generate waves in the lake and things can get wet. You MUST be able to pack ALL your gear inside the boat.

Optional activities after for setting up camp includes a quick hike up to Prairie View trail lookout or paddle around the lake or just chill.
In the evening we can have a simple potluck dinner. Paddle out next morning after breakfast.

This is a tent sharing co-ed event. Each site's tent pad will hold 2 people nicely, maximum 3 person tent per site.

When you sign up, please indicate if:
1 - if you are kayaking in or hiking in (note you will be traveling separately from the group if you choose the overland route)
2 - You have a backcountry tent and how many people can fit in the tent
3 - You have backcountry gear to share like backcountry stove, water filter, axe, tarp etc
4 - If you can drive and how many people can you take.
THIS IS A COED EVENT- WE WILL HAVE TO SHARE TENTS. NOT ENOUGH TENTSITES TO GO AROUND.
Please do not sign up for this event if you are unwilling to share a tent. Also, this is also an any fun thing goes event (i.e. be prepared for the unexpected, fun wise, stiff upper lips need not come :-) )

You can rent a backpacking and kayak stuff at MEC or UofC Outdoor Center
Make sure you have adequate warm clothes because it might get below zero at night. Do not rely on the fire to keep you warm, especially if there is a fire ban in place. NO COTTON CLOTHING
