Itinerary:
We will be hiking into Purcell Lodge, one of the Canadian Rockies’ most luxurious and environmentally friendly backcountry resorts. Purcell Lodge has hot showers, a full bar (cash only), very comfortable rooms (towels, bathrobes and bedding is included), full power, sauna, and a full commercial kitchen. The lodge also has one of the lowest environmental foot prints of any operation in the mountains, generating its own power through micro-hydro and a full sewage treatment plant before discharging to a septic field.

Friday

- Our carpool leaves Shouldice Arena at 6:00 am and arrives in Golden at 10:00 am where we will meet our host and mountain guide, Doug Latimer. Doug has worked as a naturalist, rock guide and ski guide for nearly two decades, and has been working at Purcell for a decade. After a quick meeting, we will drive an hour up a logging road to the trail head.

We will commence our hike to Purcell Lodge(map), an 11 km trip with an elevation gain of 600 m and one river crossing. We will be keeping together on the hike in (slow pace) and should arrive at Purcell Lodge in late afternoon.

Once we arrive at Purcell Lodge, hikers will be assigned a room (those wanting to share a room may do so) and relax.

Saturday

- Breakfast and lunch will be packed in and prepared by attendees and, other than your optional attendance at these meals, you are free to explore the beautiful alpine meadows, scramble the nearby peaks or simply relax and drink in the beautiful scenery. Doug is willing to lead some hikes and challenging scrambles in the area, depending on the interest of the group.

Sunday

- We will have a good breakfast and hike back out to the trail head in the late morning and make our way back to Calgary.
