Itinerary:
The West Coast Trail is a 75 kilometre (47 mile) backpack through thick lush, wet rainforests of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The West Coast Trail takes you through many weather systems and eco-systems exploring along sandstone cliffs, navigating across rivers, sinking treks over sandy beaches, navigating tide tables, jumping surge channels, walking boardwalk, crossing in cable cars, balancing over log bridges, climbing ladders straight up and down, crossing rope bridges and of course... slogging through mud. It is a trail for the strong willed, healthy bodied, experienced, well prepared backpacker only, one who adheres to low impact wilderness camping rules. IT IS ONLY FUN IF YOU ARE PREPARED.

I'm planning on doing the West Coast Trail in early August 2014, likely over the August long weekend with a coupe of nights in Victoria. Looking for interested people who would do a leisurely (but not slow) trip. Come out for a casual meeting to discuss possibilities, get an idea of what is involved, look over possible trip mates (to make sure we're compatible and won't kill each other on the trip after 7 days :-) ) and generally have a fun night.

The WCT is for hikers who are
- not cheapos, this adventure isn't a cheap thing to do, trust me
- able to walk long distances through rough terrain with a heavy pack
- experienced in multi-day backpacking trips
- prepared to have an isolated wilderness experience
- have lots of stamina
- free of recurring knee, back or ankle injuries

No experience is necessary at this point to go on the trip. However by the start of the trip you should be a seasoned pro. That and I’m planning for a few training back-country backpacks. (It's really Ben's plan to go camping in the snow).
