Distance: 7.4km Elevation Gain: 700m High Point: 2,210m Pace: Relaxed with regular breaks- early season... Icers are required. No icers = no event Thank you for reading the ENTIRE event description prior to signing up Hike description Prairie Mountain is a great early season conditioner and one of the few winter trails that gives us decent elevation gains. Standing at the top on a clear day, one can see Calgary to the east, Moose Mountain to the north, and Banded Peak to the west. Some sections may prove more difficult than others given some icy/snow patches. Gaiters, waterproof hiking boots and some tracking device such as icers are a MUST. It can get very windy at the summit therefore please ensure that you bring warm clothing as well as wind/rain gear regardless of the weather forecast. Pace / Fitness level Relaxed pace as it is early in the season. There are some very steep and icy/snowy sections. We will be sticking together as a group. If you are unable to respect this guideline please refrain from signing up. This event is not for beginners and it is highly recommended that you have previously hiked / snowshoed in winter conditions with at least 500m of elevation gain. *** Please only register if you are 100% certain to attend. No cancellations please as it creates additional work for the co- ordinator. Thank you for your understanding
