The pace will be RELAXED and some may choose only to go as far as the lower lake.

Hiking to Consolation Lakes is mostly in the trees until the trail finally arrives at Lower Consolation Lake, at which point it rewards the hiker with views of high alpine meadows, enormous talus slopes, and the impressive hanging glacier, Quadra. If Babel Creek is shallow enough, we will continue further up to Upper Consolation Lake.

From the southeast end of the Moraine Lake parking lot, we'll walk past the Rockpile Trail turnoff and continue straight and then ascend into forest. At 1.6 km, we'll bear right at a fork and pass through a boggy meadow. At 3 km, we arrive at the north end of Lower Consolation Lake. If Babel Creek is shallow enough, we'll continue on for another 30 minutes until we reach Upper Consolation Lake, where we'll have lunch. We'll return the way we came.

Also if you are looking for a fast paced event or are in a rush to get back to Calgary, this is not the event for you.

Head west on Hwy 1 (Trans-Canada) and continue to the Lake Louise Exit. Follow the signs up to Moraine Lake. Please Note: we will be briefly stopping at the Samson Mall in Lake Louise prior to starting the event.

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $108.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Saturday, April 20, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

This is bear country. Expect to travel in a tight group.
