Itinerary: | |||||||
This trip is recommended ONLY
for experienced scramblers. Please make sure you
are comfortable with exposure, narrow ridges and
slabs. Please do not sign up if you are unwilling
to stay with the group. Since it will be a long day, we might stop somewhere for food before driving back to Calgary. Make sure you pack extra food and water to leave in the car as a dinner option. Mt. Fable is visible as one travels the Trans- Canada Highway in the vicinity of the town of Exshaw. The mountain lies to the west of the valley of Exshaw Creek which flows from the northwest and through the town. We will follow the route described in Kane's book - From Exshaw, we will hike up Exshaw & Fable Creeks, and then scramble up the West ridge of Fable. We will descend the West ridge and follow the South spur to Gap Peak. We will descend the SW scree slopes to Grotto Creek, which we hike out to Grotto Mountain Pond.
Elevation: 2,702m
