Pipestone Loop is a single track-set trail consisting of gently rolling terrain with the occasional open meadows. This event is geared towards members who are comfortable skiing track-set Green and Blue trails.

Please Note: we will be briefly stopping at the Samson Mall in Lake Louise prior to starting the event. Also if you are looking for a fast paced event or are in a rush to get back to Calgary, this is not the event for you.


Required Items to Bring:
- XC skis & wax kit
- XC ski boots & poles
- Water
- Lunch and/or snacks
- Back pack with extra warm clothing
- clothing for variable weather conditions (no cotton) and dress in layers

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Head west on Hwy 1 (Trans-Canada) and continue to Lake Louise. Just past Lake Louise, turn right at the sign for the Pipestone Day-Use Area.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $112.50 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Friday, April 19, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

Terrain Classification: This event is exempted from avalanche planning because it stays on groomed cross-country ski trails.

Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are not trained guides. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road conditions, current weather conditions, current trail conditions and current avalanche conditions for the trip.
