Please read the entire event description for special sign-up instructions in order to take advantage of taking AST1 for free. The COC Training Program The objectives of the Calgary Outdoor
Training
Program in 2014/2015 are to: This is a great opportunity offered by the
Calgary
Area Outdoor Council (CAOC), of which the
COC
is a member. They are offering a rare
opportunity to take Avalanche Skills Training
Level 1 (AST 1) for free. This is normally a
$195 course. It will be run by Yamnuska and will involve
one
Friday full day session at the CAOC
office, followed by a full Saturday field day
of
training (location TBD). If you sign up, we require a 100% commitment that you will attend - no exceptions. If you cancel last minute or have no shows, please do not sign up. It is a rare privilege for us to be able to have COC members attend this course for free. The field trip can involve up to 5 km of travel and up to 250 m of elevation gain. Students must be able to travel on backcountry skis or snowshoes and should have a normal level of fitness.
