Itinerary:
This event is great for you if:
   · You are a strong novice up to intermediate skier comfortable skiing hills (very gradual here for the most part) and are up for a longer, but very rewarding day.
   · You want to ski at a relaxed pace. Average pace for the uphill will be around 4km/hr, and more for the return portion (nice, long downhill cruise).
   · You are willing to stick with the group.
   · We are out to enjoy the day and event duration may vary.

Also please note:
   · This event does not have a carpool. You must meet at the Lake O'Hara parking lot at 9:15am.
Attendees may wish to organize rides amongst themselves if riding out from Calgary the morning of the event.
Your coordinator will be staying at Castle Mountain Hostel the night of February 14 if you wish to stay and/or carpool from there.
As of February 13, only female dorm beds are left. Hostel has power & showers.
   · We may have lunch at Lake O'Hara Lodge. This is $22; cash only (they do not accept debit or credit cards).
This will be determined by group preference before the event. We can also eat our own lunches inside LeRelais shelter.

Distance: 22km
Elevation Gain: ~435m
Lake O'Hara Elevation: 2,115m
Sunrise: 7:57am
Sunset: 6:01pm

Lake O'Hara is a prime location both in summer and winter. We will ski up the Lake O'Hara fire road at a relaxed pace. This should take about 2.5 - 3 hours. We will explore a little bit around the lake, then could make our way to Lake O'Hara Lodge for lunch, which is offered 12:00 - 2:00pm. This includes soup, bread, salad, dessert, and coffee or tea, and is $22 per person (cash only). The return ski is a nice gradual downhill cruise and can be done in about an hour. Note, however, that we are out to enjoy the day and event duration may vary. You can see photos from the same trip I did before here.
