PLS NOTE:- Priority will be given to active Volunteers, followed by Premier and Regular members if space permits.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THE EVENT DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY PRIOR TO REGISTERING. SERIOUS APPLICANTS ONLY.

We are very pleased to inform you that the Calgary Outdoor Club (COC) will subsidize 50% of the following course: Introduction to River Kayaking-beginners.

Everything you need to get started with kayaking. This session includes a mini-lecture on hear and river awareness to introduce you to the world of river kayaking. Then prepare to get wet as you head to the pool to learn braced entries, wet exits and paddling strokes.

You must be comfortable having your head and body submerged in water-upside down.

COC will subsidize $ 30.00 + GST and each selected participant will be asked to pay in advance the remaining $ 30.00 + GST. Kayak and gear included in price.

PRE-REQUISITE: - You do not need prior kayaking experience since this is a Beginners lesson. In addition, if you have a history of "no shows" or of cancelling events at the last minute, please DO NOT sign up. We need participants who are fully committed.

+++IMPORTANT INFORMATIO/SELECTION CRITERIA: +++

- The Course will be provided by The University of Calgary- The Outdoor Centre.
- "NO REFUND" available for the the course
- Priority for Course will be given to COC active Volunteers, secondly to Premier COC members and afterwards to the regular COC members if unable to fill the course.
You must have participated in at least 3 COC outdoor events from May 28, 2014 - February 28, 2015 .
-Please DO NOT sign up if you do not meet the requirements.
- Offer would EXCLUDE social and/or volunteer and /or learn events /and or indoor team sport events/ and or meetings.(Do not include these as part of the COC 3 required events)
- When you register all names will go on the “waiting list” and we will check the participants' history with the COC. Once the due diligence is done to check people’s history, the COC Training Team will send to the selected participants an email asking them to pay the remaining $30.00 + GST within a certain deadline (exact instructions to be provided by email by the COC Training Team)
- Course will be taking place at the U of C pool.
- The course will be taking place on March 16, 2015 from 7pm to 10pm..

PLEASE NOTE: Since this course is subsidized(paid ahead of time)If you need to cancel 72 hours prior to the event=you will get an automatic no show. In addition if you have a history of "no shows" or of cancelling events at the last minute, please DO NOT sign up. We need participants who are fully committed.

The COC Training Team is responsible for providing educational sessions where members can learn about different aspects of the outdoors, specifically:

a) providing educational sessions to members
b) raising awareness about different aspects of the outdoors
c) increasing the members' safety while enjoying their activities in the mountains
d) providing everyone the opportunity to ask pertinent questions


Required Items to Bring:
-Completed medical waiver
-Swimsuit/shorts
-Towel for after the pool,br> -If you wear glasses, bring a strap to hold them in place
-A nose plug is recommended
