Important Details
Although on well maintained trails, this event involves considerable elevation gain, and distance. Expect snow higher on the mountain
Only sign up if you are willing to stick together and hike as a group.
Summit visit will be 1 hour to spend as you wish such as stay inside the terminal building or visit Sanson’s Peak Meteorological Station.

Hike Description
We will start with a flat section from Cave and Basin then we have a long steady ascent to the summit which is straight forward hiking on the Cosmic Ray Road where you can expect snow the higher we go. The views will be constant after only 90 minutes from the trailhead and will include the Sundance Range, Massive Range, Mt Bourgeau, Mt Rundle and Mt Temple. As we near the summit, we will get caught up in the tourist trap but just take a deep breath then take time to enjoy the views. If the weather is favorable, we will stay one hour on the summit to spend as you wish. You can have your lunch in the terminal building or just hang out there, walk the boardwalk Observatory Trail enjoying the sights, head up to the Meteorological Station or do it all. We'll then regroup, and descend the zigzags to the base of the Gondola, before dropping down into the valley, and skirting around Banff in the forest to return to Cave and Basin.

We may stop for refreshments before returning to Calgary.
