Hiking boots required. SORRY no runners or footwear similar to runners.

The trail winds and switchbacks upwards through forests and leads us to panoramic views of the prairies/foothills and surrounding peaks.

We will be travelling at a steady pace with plenty of stops for photos, but please note this is not a slowpoke hike nor an easy hike given the elevation gain and distance. Also speedy hikers must be prepared to slow down and stay with the group.


Required Items to Bring:
-Comfortable hiking boots -- sorry NO runners
-Bag for dirty boots
-Lunch/snacks
-Lots of water (minimum 1 litre, 2 litres recommended)
-Extra outer layers for changeable weather

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Drive west on Hwy 1 from Calgary and take the Sibbald Creek Trail (Hwy 68) turnoff. At the Powderface Trail junction turn left and drive south approximately 3 km (on gravel road) to the Dawson recreation area. Park here. The trailhead is at the east end of the parking area.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $38.40 (calculated at total Km * $0.32, effective Thursday, December 2, 2021). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
