Pace: Relaxed

Hidden a short distance from the mainstream of traffic on the Icefields Parkway, beneath the sheer limestone walls of the Great Divide, Chephren Lake offers spectacular scenery and a restful quite that can be reached with a minimum expenditure of time and energy.

The trail starts at the far end of the lakeshore picnic area and skirts the Waterfowl Lakes campground as the trail crosses the Mistaya River and begins the gradual climb towards Chephren Lake. As the trail gains elevation, the trees start to thin out, allowing for the occasional views of Howse Peak and Mount Chephren. By reaching the lake, one gets a complete view of the rugged, glacier draped, Howes Peak and of the spectacular looking, pyramid shaped, Mount Chphren. We'll have lunch at the lake and then return the way we came.
