This event is geared towards those who possess at least some cross-country skiing experience.

This scenic trial follows along Moraine Lake Road, which is closed to traffic in winter. The trail is trackset and includes both gently rolling and hilly stretches. Tracksetting ends at a viewpoint of Consolation Valley and the Ten Peaks. We will not be continuing past the viewpoint as that area enters into avalanche terrain. We will have lunch at the viewpoint and then return the way we came.

After several kilometers, the road takes a sharp turn to the left to make its final climb up to the Chateau. Approximately 1 km before reaching the Chateau, turn left onto Moraine Lake road. Winter Safety Considerations

Terrain Classification: This event is exempted from avalanche planning because it is on groomed cross-country ski trails. We will not be continuing past the viewpoint as that area enters into avalanche terrain.

Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are not trained guides. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road conditions, current weather conditions, current trail conditions and current avalanche conditions for the trip.
