This trip is amazing!!
See wildlife, camp on islands. There's a reason why this place is called the Sunshine Coast.

This park is a boater’s paradise at the confluence of Malaspina Inlet and Homfray Channel. Enjoy the spectacular vistas and calm waters. Explore the islands and coves that make up the unique shoreline. Desolation Sound Marine Provincial Park has more than 60 km of shoreline, several islands, numerous small bays and snug coves. The warm waters of the park are ideal for swimming and snorkeling; the forested upland offers a shady refuge of trails, small lakes and campsites.

Expect 3-5 hours of kayaking per day. Participants will be expected to demonstrate ability to perform a sea kayak self-rescue. No exceptions. If you have not kayaked before, join us on the other various local kayak events we will be organizing.

REQUIREMENTS :
- Bring a fun, accommodating, group-oriented attitude. If you can't play, don't go.
- Although this is one of the safer places to kayak on the coast, there are long crossings and potential for wind (3 ~ 5 ft or more waves).
- Demonstrate ability to self-rescue
- There will be a final pre- trip meet prior to departure.
- You MUST attend one or more local kayak events put on by the coordinator to determine your ability and for paddle practice. If you can do an overnighter for practice even better!
- Though we will be paddling in a group for safety at the speed of the slowest kayaker, do not make the group wait for you just because you're not fit enough.
- You are to follow the direction of the coordinators at all times. Call us Captain Bligh, it's for your safety. If you decide to mutiny, you're on your own.
- If you can't be patient for others or won't consider group safety over self-fulfillment, this is NOT the trip for you.
- Personal kayaks will only be accommodated with permission of the coordinator. We reserve the right to not allow your boat on the trip if we determine your kayak not being appropriate for the trip, or accommodation/cost of transport.
- You may be required to share a tent and to keep gear to a minimum and to lighten the load.

ITINERARY :
Saturday - We'll drive and convoy out to Vancouver, stay in a hostel.
Sunday - Shop for fresh groceries and travel up the coast(at least to Powell River). camp overnight.
Monday - AM, set off with the kayaks from Okeover Harbour over to Hare Point, Okeover Inlet
Tuesday - kayak to Curme Islands
Wednesday - to W Redonda Island - Roscoe Bay - walk to Black Lake - swim/clean up - kayak back to Curme Islands
Thursday - We'll head west over to the north end of the Copeland Islands.
Friday - back the mainland and as far as time allows. Camp overnight at Saltery Bay.
Saturday - Take the ferry back to Vancouver - night out and stay at a hostel.
Sunday - Arrive back at Calgary late evening.
