Itinerary:

Day 1:
Distance 8km
Elevation 80m
Snowshoeing at Bow Lake Meadows and then have a fabulous overnight at the nice and warm Mosquito Creek Wilderness Hostel. This is a back-to-nature wilderness experience away from the crowds, the shops and the bars of the town centres. No Phone, No Electricity, No Showers and there are Outhouse toilets. I have booked one cabin (yes an entire cabin) where we will be sleeping in dorm style bunks. Linen is included but feel free to bring light sleeping bag. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. In the evening, we will have a communal potluck dinner in the shared kitchen. There is also a sauna to warm up in (!). Note, this is not a backpack.

Day 2:
After a potluck breakfast, depending on what time we wake up, we'll have the option of doing a shorter snowshoe at one of the official Lake Louise trails or; to somewhere we will all agree on or; to just chill. TBC that weekend. At no time will we be going into avalanche terrain. If we have time we might risk the hoardes of Banff, which can be scarier. Expect to be back in Calgary late in the evening.

Note that this is a Wilderness Hostel.
Expect basic facilities like outhouses, no shower facilities but there is water for cooking and a sauna. There is minimal solar electricity, has propane lights and stoves. The individual huts are stove heated. These hostels with their simple comforts immerse you in the natural splendour of the Rockies. Experience a unique, "off-the-grid" Canadian getaway. You'll be able to savour true silence, night skies bursting with stars and the knowledge that some of the world's most magnificent landscapes are, really, right outside our door.
