Feel like an adventure? Here is a moderately adventurous trip for those x country skiiers looking to take thier level up a notch. Bryant Creek Shelter is located about a four hour ski from the foot of Mount Shark. We must be on the trail head, foot of Mount Shark, by noon in order to arrive at the cabin before dark. About 15 km. We overnight, pot luck dinner and have an easy ski out next day. The shelter is basic. Two persons sleep per wooden platform. I have booked 12 spots. It will be cozy! The wooden fire place heats the cabin well enough. This trip is not for beginners. There is nothing particularly challenging; some undulating terrain. 3/4 of the trail is not groomed. If you are in moderate shape, are relatively comfortable on x country or light touring skiis, can carry a backpack four hours then by all means join us. Costs: Depending upon if all 12 join us; $25 covers your shelter fee, a one time backcountry pass as well as my rental of a satellite phone;(in case of an emergency) We will have a pre trip meeting; to be posted http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Mount-Shark-to- Bryant-Creek-Shelter-near-Kananaskis-AB-5895 http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn- np/ab/banff/activ/randonee- backpacking/bryant.aspx | |||||||
