Time to start training for backpacking!!! This training is suitable for people who have been active. If you have not done similar hikes (with regular day hike pack) before, this event will not be suitable for you. You are required to carry 20% of your body weight to start with. (More experienced people can start with 25% of your body weight :D) I suggest you bring water weights. In case you are struggling, you can always dump the water. But you need to have at least 20% of your body weight backpack to start with. For example, if Bob weights 195lb, my backpack will need to be at least 39lb.

This is a Class 1 Scramble - Best way to describe Ha Ling Peak: it is a very steep hike. Ha Ling Peak is the impressive pinnacle that rises above Canmore to the southwest. The trail winds up the backside of the mountain & ends up with stunning views across the Bow Valley. Expect snow & icy patches below and above tree line.

We will go at a slow and steady pace with very short breaks in between for snack or water. If you are too fast, you may be asked to help carrying extra weights from the last person. :P
