Distance: 11km loop (up prairie mountain return prairie creek)
Elevation gain: 720m approx
Pace: Relaxed but steady


I'm posting this on the off chance that it isn't pouring rain on Saturday. If it is pouring rain, I'll probably cancel the hike, but let's keep our fingers crossed.

We'll take the normal steep route up and the easier Southwest route down.


IMPORTANT:This trail is quite steep, please be confident in your ability to handle the stated elevation before signing up. Previous experience with similar elevation gain is highly recommended. The stated event duration of 5+ hours is an estimate only. latest.

If the group is interested, and time permitted we may make a brief stop in Bragg Creek for a refreshment before heading back to Calgary.


Required Items to Bring:
- Hiking shoes/boots
- Comfortable quick dry active wear (avoid jeans, cotton tops)
- Windbreaker/rain gear (can be quite windy at the top)
- Plenty of water, energy drink
- Lunch
- Snacks/energy food
- $$ for carpool driver
- Bag for dirty hiking shoes/boots

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From the carpool, we'll make our way to Bragg Creek via highways 1 and 22. From the intersection of highways 22 and 66 turn right and follow the highway for approximately 20km. Park at the Beaver Lodge lot on the left side of the highway just beyond the winter gate and Elbow Falls.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $39.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Friday, April 19, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle.
