Itinerary:
Disc Golf #33

Disc Golf is played much like regular golf, but instead of trying to hit a ball into a hole, players attempt to get discs into a basket in the least amount of throws. Similar to clubs in ball golf, there are different discs for each shot. There are hundreds of discs available on the market which generally fall into three categories: drivers; midranges and putters. It is recommended that you have one of each to start although one could get away with just a midrange (such as a 'Buzz') in the beginning. Frisbees are usually not suitable as they do not fly far enough but they'll suffice if you just want to give the game a try.

The Thorncliffe/Greenview Disc Golf Course is located near the intersection of McKnight Blvd and Centre Street North. This 9 basket course was installed on May 7, 2013 and was funded by CDGC membership drives, PDGA Canada and the Community Facility Enhancement Committee (gov't of Alberta). There is no charge to play.

Click Here for a view of the course layout. We'll play 2 rounds (18 holes).

Beginners are more than welcome but basic throwing skills are helpful in getting the most out of the game. If you participate in sports such as softball or Ultimate frisbee, you should pick the game fairly easily. Games will be very casual and scorekeeping is optional.

The goal here is to simply have fun while enjoying the great outdoors. Everyone should bring their own discs but if you're a first timer who just wants to give it a try before investing in any equipment, I will have several Frisbees available for use.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From the intersection of Centre Street and Northmount Drive to the west and 56 Avenue to the east, head east on 56th Avenue NE a couple blocks to the 4 way stop. Turn south along Taylor Crescent NE pass the ball diamond on your right and watch for a pedestrian crosswalk with a wooden set of stairs that lead down into the green space (approx. street address 5436 Taylor Cres). Park in that area and meet at the stairs. From there it's just a few steps down the pathway to the basket for hole #9 and just beyond that is the first tee. The tee offs are marked with disc sized white circles on the ground. The circles have the tee off number on them.
