Itinerary:

Sorry, folks, I'm having to move the date. Realized I have a conflict on the 25th.

Elevation Gain-1690 m
Distance-16 km return

Mt Temple is the third highest peak in Canada’s Southern Rockies and is a classic scramble. It is one of the few 11000 foot mountain ascents in the Canadian Rockies which is non-technical (Normal Route). But at 11626 ft this mountain still deserves respect. There have been accidents on the mountain resulting in injuries and therefore should not be taken lightly. Expect the trail to be busy if the weather forecast is promising.

The trail begins at the Moraine Lake parking lot where we take the Larch Valley Trail up to Sentinel Pass. The elevation gain to the pass represents 720 of the total 1690 meters for the day. From there we start the long hike towards the summit. Although the trip is mostly on scree there are sections which will require moderate scrambling. After navigating through a couple of rockbands you find yourself on the final approach ridge to the summit. It is here that most people begin to notice the ever thinning air. The views from the top are simply amazing! From this lofty perch one can see summits 60-80km away. After a rest and lunch we will head back down.

This trip will be cancelled if bad weather is forecast or if snow falll have been recorded. An email will be sent closer to event date. An alternate scramble might be chosen

This trip is best suited to experienced scramblers. Everyone will be moved to the waitlist and then selected based on fitness and experience. To be eligible for this trip you must have already been to Abbot Hut and be capable of hiking up Prairie Mountain in 70 minutes or less. I will organize a Prairie Mountain event where we will ensure everyone meets the fitness criteria. You MUST bring all items from the Required Items list (see below) . **Please note early departure time**
