Itinerary:
Beautiful high alpine meadows and lakes. Beginning at the Fish Creek trailhead (next to the Lake Louise ski area), this trip starts with a 4 km hike up the Temple access road. Climb over aptly named Boulder Pass and pass by beautiful Ptarmigan Lake before descending to Baker Lake and the campground. The second day involves travelling around Fossil Mountain and past historic Skoki Lodge to Merlin Meadows campground. On the way out, after climbing Deception Pass, re-join the access trail at Ptarmigan Lake back to the trail head. Please read notes below.
Distance: 38km round trip
Elevation: 1300M gross gain, give or take

Itinerary:
FRIDAY - Drive out to the trail head at Lake Louise. Hike in to Baker Lake Campground. 14k 600M. No camp fires at this site.
SATURDAY - Head over to Merlin Meadows Campground. Set up camp and then go explore the area. 8k 200m. There is a communal firepit here so bring your pack saw. We'll have to gather fire wood.
SUNDAY - After breakfast, hike out and head home. 16k 500m. I'd like to stop over in Banff for dinner and hot springs soak if possible.

Note:
- Co-ed tent sharing event as I only have 3 tent sites booked per campground. 2 ppl to a tent as needed (maximum 4 people to a tent pad in one tent)
- This is a fun anything goes event
- Pace will be moderate, there will be stops for photos but definitely not for super slowpokes
- Note there might still be snow at the higher elevations so be prepared. Winter conditions could possibly be in effect as it is in a mountain range. Who knows? Be prepared, we’re still going anyways.
- Do not be in rush to get back to Calgary will be back late for sure

Costs:
- Send payment to me via Interac Transfer at: vospermtb@gmail.com
- The cost is per person for 2 nights. Whether you share a tent or if you're lucky enough to have your own pad because everyone else is squeezing into a 4 man, it is still the same cost. So sharing gear will make it lighter.
- You must pay in full when registering or I will have to move you to the waiting list.
- Do not send payment if you’re on the waitlist, wait for my email to get on.
- No refunds if you're cancelling and if a suitable replacement cannot be found. If no one responds from the waitlist then you’re out of luck.
- Your coordinator will not be dealing with payment beyond the original payment. Replacements will send monies direct to you instead.

Gear: You will need your own personal backpacking gear. Tents, stoves, packsaw, water filters and pots can be shared between tent mates. Bear hangs are available at the campsites so bring a small sack for hanging food and other scented stuff up. If you're brand new to backpacking, see link for backpacking gear and email me for info:
Typical Backpacking List (the lighter the better. Did I mention 1300m [or more] elevation gain?).
