Hike Description:
Hiking Forgetmenot Ridge can be memorable for many reasons. There is that wide creek crossing just fifteen minutes from the trailhead. Next you have the three kilometers of steep climbing through the trees then more climbing, but not as steep, on loose rubble. Then you have a ridge that is like the energizer bunny, it goes on and on and on. This is the best time of year to visit Forgetmenot Ridge. The wide ridge can be mostly snow free, wild flowers should be plentiful and the creek is at a safe level (anywhere from above the ankle to the knee) for crossing. The plan is to hike along the main ridge to the rocky knoll, which rises 55 meters. It is a very easy knoll to scramble up and can be done without using your hands. There is no exposure. We will explore beyond the knoll where we will have to hike over and around big rocks. Upon our return we will take two detours out to jutting arms of Forgetmenot Ridge to make it a three- summit day. Our hike will end by cooling off our feet when we make that creek crossing again.
