Itinerary:
Getting to be the last chance to ride hwy 40 before the gate opens on June 15.
Its pretty much a climb to the top of Highwood Pass but all downhill on the way back. You might want to bring extra clothes for the descent as the wind chill may be an issue.


Trip description: We will cycle up to Highwood Pass from the north winter gate at the turnoff to Kananaskis Lakes Trail. The distance is 17 kms (34 kms return) and elevation gain is 500 metres. There will be no official lunch/snack stops - gauge your time and stop for your breaks as needed.

We can opt to have a picnic or snacks and drinks after the ride so bring some snacks and beverages. Check with your driver to see if they are stopping after or heading straight home.

A road-worthy bicycle
Helmet **No Exceptions**
Gloves
Snacks
Water
Tire repair kit, at least 1 spare tube
A chain repair kit suitable for the chain on your bike
The proper clothing for the day, either wet or dry

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take the Trans Canada Highway west from Calgary for approximately 70 km, then turn south on Highway 40 for approximately 50 km. Park along the road near the winter gate.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $72.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Friday, March 29, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
