PLS NOTE: If weather turns to rain-this event will get cancelled.

It's great to go on a hike that's close to Calgary. Perhaps one of the easiest summits in the area, Pigeon Mountain, is still not an overly busy place – nearby Mt Yamnuska and Heart Mountains see much more traffic.

There are many well known mountains to be seen from here, including the giant Grotto Mountain just to the southwest. To the immediate east is Mt McGillivray. Behind us (to the south) Mt Collembola and Mt Allan are large grassy summits. On the back side of the latter is the Nakiska ski hill. To the west, the Three Sisters dominate the skyline and just to the south of it is a favourite mountain of ours Windtower.

Please Note:Exploratory Trip. Return time may very, we are out to enjoy the day. thanks

PACE: Relaxed slower pace when doing the uphill portions and moderate for the balance. If you are a speed demon please sign up for another hike.

Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are NOT trained guides. All participants are responsible for their OWN safety and equipment.

Required Items to Bring:

-Extra pair of socks(keep you feet dry when your boots get wet - rain/puddles).
-Plenty of water ( 1 1/2L minimum, more if hot)
-Lunch
-Dress in layers
-Mittens, toque(even in summer-mtn changes quickly)
-First-aid kit(do not rely on coordinator)
-Bear spray and/or air horn and/or whistle - NO BEAR BELLS
-Change to pay your driver.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
