Hike Description
It will be seven years to the day on Monday that I last hiked into this Glacier. It’s time to freshen up my memories of that Old Goat. If it’s time for you to hit refresh or if you are looking to hike this trail for the first time why not join in. From our parking spot we'll walk along the road for about 200 meters, then turn right at a wired-off opening. A good trail runs alongside Old Goat Creek. This route has three parts: easy valley stroll to the waterfall; a steep grunt on a rough trail up the headwall into the hanging valley; and the hike on the lateral moraine to the viewpoint for Old Goat Glacier. We will explore and try to work our way to the tarn that sits below the glacier, which is why the variation in distance and elevation gain. A creek, a glacier, a tarn, nice on the eyes scenery and an opportunity to play in snow all packaged together make for a lovely place to visit on a hot Monday.
