The hike is only about 30 minutes away from Canmore and entirely on an adequate trail, which is rewarding from the start. The short, forested approach is mostly creek side. You'll soon burst into a basin enjoying rapidly expanding views of Spray Lakes Reservoir and the Three Sisters Massif. Once you surpass the trees and enter the canyon, the crest of a moraine offers a gentle ascent probing the realm of rock and ancient ice. Please do not be in a rush to return to Calgary, since we are out to enjoy the day-hiking time may vary.

Please note this hike will involve climbing the rocky moraine to the canyon, though no scrambling experience will be necessary.

PACE: Please note that this is not a speed demon's hike (getting to the top in record time) nor is it for very slowpokes. We will be hiking at a moderate pace on gentler grades and at a slower pace on steeper terrain. If you're not sure about a hike, feel free to contact the coordinator and remember to always hike within your ability in order to be able to keep up with the group. If you have not hiked before nor recently hiked with 500M+ elevation gain, this hike is not for you.

Required Items to Bring:
-Proper hiking Boots and pack (PLS ensure your PACK is big enough to include extras -- a small water hydration bike pack that only fits your water hydration pack and small lunch is too small...one should always be ready for the unexpected)
- NO Sling pack not appropriate for hike.
-Bear spray and/or air horn and/or whistle - HIGHLY recommended-since LOTS of Bears everywhere lately.
-Plenty of water (min 1 1/2L-more if weather is hot )
-Dress in layers
-First-aid kit-Highly recommended-do not rely on coordinator
-Change to pay your driver
-Plastic bag to put muddy boots in.
