Note: Microspikes are required and waterproof hiking footwear. This is a Winter hike. Snowshoes are not likely required but bring along if you have them just in case.

A popular trail in the Kananaskis area with excellent views. We will cross Barrier Dam and climb from that point on. The grade is persistent and we climb using a series of switchbacks. With nearly continuous climbing through the trees, we will reach the ridge. The trail narrows and becomes steeper in the last 200m before the cliff top. The cliff top itself is a great place to take in the views and snap photographs.

We will be moving at a moderate to fast-ish pace but there will be lots of breaks for photos etc. Depending on conditions, we'll linger at the top before heading down. If you can make the summit of Prairie in 1.5 hours you're should be ok speed wise. I plan to be back in Calgary by mid afternoon so we won't be dawdling a lot.
