Elevation gain: 1500m; Distance: 22km

This trip is not recommended for beginner scramblers due to ice/snow shoulder season condition. However, this is not a mountaineering event, we will turn back when it is not safe to proceed.

Expecting deep snow after Bourgeau Lake, so you will need to bring your snowshoe. This trip will bring you peace and rejuvenation as I don't expect high traffic here at this time of the year. If it is not safe to proceed, we will practice ice axe self-arrest and glissade. (Bring your ice axe). It would be interesting to explore this area in the early season.

Our turn back time is 3pm or not safe to proceed whichever comes first.

Speed: Turbo at beginning, steady after hitting snow

Shoulder season avalanche consideration: avalanche danger may be variable, and can easily range from Low to High throughout the day. In general, reduce your exposure to avalanche terrain during periods of solar radiation, daytime warming, or rain.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $81.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Saturday, April 20, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
