The COC Training Program

The objectives of the Calgary Outdoor Club Training Program are to:
   a) provide educational sessions to members;
   b) raise awareness about different aspects of the outdoors
   c) increase the members' safety while enjoying their activities in the mountains    and
   d) provide everyone the opportunity to ask pertinent questions.

Learn the basics of trail running. Topics to be covered include:

  1. Comparison to road running
  2. Techniques on the trail
  3. Gear
  4. Safety considerations
  5. How to get started

We will begin the evening with a talk on the above topics, followed by an optional 30-60 minute trail run in Weaselhead Flats.

Although this event is best suited for runners coming from a road running background, anyone interested in trail running can join us (it's entirely OK to walk up the hills!). All paces are welcome. Trail running will most definitely be slower than running on pavement.

Please only register for this event if you are serious about attending. Unreasonable last minute cancellations (2 hours or less prior to event) and no shows preventing others from attending the event will be recorded. If you are in the habit of cancelling last minute pls do not sign up. Thank you for your consideration for other COC members.
