Do not be in rush to get back to Calgary

This hike will likely involve some off trail hiking, has potential to include some minor bushwhacking or game trail following.

We'll start at the Gorge Creek Day Use area and head up the Gorge Creek trail. After about an hour from the start, we'll enter the meadows and a narrower trail. We'll ascend through forest and aim towards our goal of reaching the ridge. The SE ridge is broad and open, however to reach the ridge crest will require navigating through some scree, across rock slabs and through some stunted trees. As we reach the east side, the terrain will get steeper and chunky rocks will have to be climbed to reach the top of Mt Ware.

We will return by roughly the same route.

On the way back we might stop by some pretty waterfalls.

IMPORTANT: Dogs must be well socialized and have a leash. Also, please note that the COC and its Volunteers are not responsible for mishaps (or fines) that occur on an event due to the behavior of dogs (or their owners) who attend our events.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $57.75 (calculated at total Km * $0.33, effective Wednesday, July 15, 2026). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

Notes:
Please bring with you a plastic bag, clean footwear, & gaiters (& perhaps extra pants?) because the trails are muddy this time of year & whoever ends up driving would appreciate everyone keeping the mud out of their vehicles.
