Itinerary:
This will be a random backcountry overnight camp. We'll be backpacking in to the waters of Loomis Lake surrounded with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. There will be one shallow river crossing and a few smaller creek crossings. Be prepared for 400m of climbing in the last 2km. If we get there early, there are options to do side trips. I haven't been to the area before so the conditions are unknown at this time and allow time for route finding and maybe bushwhacking involved. Adventures R Us!
Distance: 12 km one way
Elevation: 700m gain
Expect about 5 - 6 hours to hike in give or take

As we will be camping in a remote wilderness area, we will be practicing Leave no Trace principles. Pack out what we pack in. We may or may not have a fire as the wood in the area could be scarce or there could be a fire ban. Plus this is Grizzly country so food prep awareness is important.

Itinerary:
SUNDAY – Early morning drive out to the trail head, haul in to the site, chill for a bit, explore the local area. Have dinner and do a miniature potluck. Main meal is your own but bring a light snack to share. Note - having a campfire may not happen so don't count on it, be prepared. If we have time we can explore and climb to the pass or a hill or two
MONDAY - After a morning breakfast hike out and head back. Do not be in rush to get back to Calgary, we'll be back late as we'll stop over in a town somewhere for refreshments depending what on time we get out.

Note:
- Bring a lightweight pack. Leave the kitchen sink at home. See elevation gain.
- You'll need to do a bear hang or bring a bear cannister.
- This is a fun anything goes event
- This is a random camping event. No facilities. Practice Leave No Trace.
- Speed will be moderate but definitely not for super slowpokes
- It's bear country so you'll really need to practice bear awareness and safety. Bear spray is MANDATORY.

Gear: You will need your own backpacking gear. Be prepared to be self-sufficient. See link for personal backpacking gear if you are new to this, but lighter is more. Contact me if you have not backpacked before.
Typical Backpacking List (the lighter the better.
