*If conditions are favourbale expect to linger around Rae Lake for up to 90 minutes. I'll be bringing my hammock :)

We will begin our hike with a 30 minute moderately steep climb to beautiful Elbow Lake & campground. Instead of remaining here, as many do, we will continue through the Elbow Valley where we will cross rolling, sparsely-treed meadows in search of our goal: Rae Lake

The trail itself will begin along a road-trail through some meadows. After passing Elbow Lake, we will get some views of Piper Creek canyon and occasionally get a glimpse of the Elbow River. The trail will branch off and eventually end up following a cairned path to Rae Lake, at the foot of Mt. Rae. We will stop at the lake for lunch break before continuing around the shore to follow a looped routing that will join back with the road-trail we came up on. The trip promises many views of the neighbouring peaks, passage by a couple of lakes and exploration into one of the less commonly explored parts of the area.

Please keep in mind the posted "event duration" is an estimate only. Kindly refrain from registering if you have to be back in the city by a certain time. As always, when in doubt, don't come out :)
