Are you into wintersports? Then this clinic for you. Join MEC and Avalanche Canada for this free presentation by a certified Avalanche Canada forcaster. In this session we will go over some basic things to look for when going to the mountains, then look at the "Off the Line" case study. This case study will look at a few incidences from last winter where people were just slightly off their planned line. In some cases, this caused a "near miss." In other cases, a fatality. This will also look at (free) resources available that could save your life, including:
*Where do you access the information you need?
*What information do you need?
*Some basic interpretation of what you see
*Importance of weather
*Basic resources at idntifying risk
*Where to find other case studies
