**Come prepared for possible windy conditions at the lookout as well as variable trail conditions which may include; snow, mud, slush and ice.

Those willing to drive from the carpool may be given priority. Drive includes a short section of dirt road

From the trailhead, we will hike along the old lookout pack road to the foot of the mountain. From there we will find a very well constructed set of switchbacks that will take us all the way to the top of the first peak. At this point the trail levels out for a while as we head for the main peak and the final ascent to the fire lookout. Moose Mountain is located halfway between the prairies and the first range of the Rocky Mountains offering an unparalleled view for 160 km in all directions.

We are definitely out to enjoy the day, if conditions are favourable expect to relax at the lookout for at least an hour or more.

Note: This trail has some very rocky sections so good supportive hiking footwear is a MUST. Also it can get very windy at the lookout. Please ensure you bring some warm clothing as well as wind/rain gear regardless of the weather forecast.

Please keep in mind the posted 'event durations' are estimates only. Kindly refrain from registering if you have to be back in the city by a certain time. As always, when in doubt, don't come out :)
