Itinerary:
Still have a bit of time to do a random wilderness overnight backpack. Hike out, overnight, have a campfire dinner and breakfast and go home the next day. Bring a tent or build your own shelter, your choice. Do a bit of bushcrafting or just regular tent it. But I think cooking over a campfire is an awesome event, let's share some food for dinner and breakfast.

Distance: 3-4km one way (maybe even less). Not going very far as the aim is to have more fun than work but bring a saw if you have one as we'll be scavenging for firewood. (but if you don't want to forage you might have to sit in a corner of he forest, just sayin')
Elevation: 10-20m expect bushwhacking for a short section

Notes:
- This is is a FUN anything goes event which will involve staying up for part of the night (mostly in the interest of staying warm so this is a good thing)
- Expect early winter conditions
- Best is if you bring old clothing that is campfire smoke, ember and rough-use resistant.

Required Items to Bring:
- usual backpacking stuff but in particular
- a good insulating sleeping mat (unless you are going to rough it with boughs) - A tarp for shelter
- BEAR SPRAY (yes they are still awake)
- Headlamp and spare batteries (or bring an old fashioned pressure lamp, those things are cool if you have one)
- Layers for warmth, snow and/or rain. Your outer clothing should preferably be fiery hot ember resistant (i.e. it's ok to have fire ember holes in them, see note above about campfire cooking)
- Waterproof layers
- Waterproof boots and gaiters
- Extra set of DRY clothes including base layers, socks and gloves.
- Work gloves and work shirt something that will be ok being dirty and tough enough to resist tears as we'll be gathering firewood
- Food (mmm....food)
- Waterproof matches or lighter or fire rod or bring your own friction stick or flamethrower (if you prefer)
- Backpacking saw
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
- Hiking poles
- small (or Big) hatchet or (humongous) machete chopper
- small (or Big) cooking pot suitable for a campfire
- If you want, a grill suitable for a campfire, otherwise rocks makes awesome grills
- Camera
- Any super duper latest and greatest gear you want to try out
