The COC Training Program

The objectives of the Calgary Outdoor Club Training Program are to:
   a) provide educational sessions to members;
   b) raise awareness about different aspects of the outdoors
   c) increase the members' safety while enjoying their activities in the mountains    and
   d) provide everyone the opportunity to ask pertinent questions.

SESSION:

This is an introductory clinic for beginners. Our coach will be COC member Lahav W who is a wax tech for a high end group.
NOTE: Rental information will be provided below or you are welcome to bring your own equipment. This is a CLASSIC XC SKI clinic. No skate skis, no backcountry skis, no touring skis - only track skis or you will not be able to participate.

The plan is to spend some time going over the basics to introduce the group of beginners, followed by an out and back format of skiing to become familiar with classic cross country.
Total return distance would be 18km max for the Moraine Lake road but it is an out and back format so we will turn around at a shorter distance dependent on how the group is doing.

Location may change but is anticipated to be the Moraine Lake Road near Lake Louise. This road is closed in winter and track set for XC skiing. Back up plan would be the Canmore Nordic center.

As this is an introductory event it is anticipated that many participants will need to rent equipment. With that in mind below are a couple of suggested rental locations

NOTE that there is an upcoming 201 beginner lesson for XC skiing being offered by the COC with a cost attached.
