Hike Description
Packer’s Pass is a great option for a day hike into the Skoki region. Distance and elevation are similar to Deception Pass but it is much more scenic. These passes are separated by Packer’s Peak with Packer’s Pass being on the west side. To get to Packer’s Pass, you first hike roughly 4km along the fire road. We’ll reach the Halfway Hut, pay a visit there then work our way through Boulder Pass to Ptarmigan Lake. After one km from Boulder Pass, we will look for a cairn on the west end of Ptarmigan Lake, which should mark where we begin our ascent up a grassy slope with a not so defined trail to Packer’s Pass. From the Pass we will see Zigadenus Lake (one of the Skoki Lakes) below. We expect to then hike about 130 m more elevation up Packer's Peak. The views in this whole area are impressive and we will be taking time to enjoy them.
