This will be a short trip. Friday the 13th special, out sunday. Bring a chainsaw for ambience. Hike in from Mt Shark to to Mt Assiniboine and back
We will be camping, nestled at the base of iconic Mt. Assiniboine, the Matterhorn of the Rockies, the campsite is surrounded by soaring peaks, alpine meadows filled with wildflowers, larch trees and turquoise lakes. This event is best suited for those with some backpacking experience. You'll each get your own tent pad. We'll be covering longer distances this trip. Note there are no fires at either campsite. Magog Lake campsite has an open kitchen shelter and food lockers. Marvel lake has a bear hang.

Day 1 - Mt Shark Trailhead to Marvel Lake - 14km 250m elevation gain. Camp overnight.
Day 2 - Marvel Lake to Magog Lake via Assiniboine Pass- 15km 430m elevation gain. Camp overnight.
Day 3 - Hike back out to Mt Shark trailhead via Wonder pass. 27km 634m loss. This will be a long day but its mainly downhill. Dinner in Canmore before heading home.

- Payment is due upon registration. Sign up on the waitlist, and once you've paid, you'll be added to the registration. Send me an Interac Transfer. First pay first on.
- You should be able to stick with the group and not shoot off on your own.
- You should have the ability to cover longer distances and elevation whilst carrying a loaded backpack. There is time to train.
- Our pace will be moderate and your pack should not exceed 35lbs all in, lesser is preferable. There is a contest to see if anyone can get to 25#s. A lighter pack also = a more enjoyable trip instead of huffing it.
- This is a fun anything goes event. If you're uptight about stuff, might not be the event for you.

Required Items to Bring:
- Lightweight backpacking gear. Under 35lbs, the lighter the better, lots of elevation gain. I'm a converted ultra light fan.
- Adequate layers and rain gear for the conditions
- Bear spray
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
- Camera
- SPOT or Inreach device
- hiking poles
