Banded Peak is a moderate scramble along the southwest slopes with a moderate bike ride.

You must be fit. Combined it will take effort and a long day. Expect to come home late and possibly in dark (bring head lamp)

We will be fording a creek due to 2013 flood the typical trail is not available. You will require 'water shoes' and if you want to keep feet warm, neoprene socks are also good to have.

From the parking area we cycle along the Big Elbow Trail for 15.2 km. Here we stash our bikes and go along the side of a creek up into a basin onto the scree slopes that will eventually bring us to the summit. Banded Peak is the mountain west of us that is recognized by a "black band" just belong the peak. The summit has a view of prairies in the East and larger peaks in the south and west. Please note that your coordinator has not done this scramble before. Please be patient if route finding is required.

Please Note: All participants MUST bring ROCK HELMET (You can use as your mountain bike helmet if you want or bring an extra bike helmet), also bring a bike lock, and MICRO SPIKES.

We'll be going at a moderate pace. You are expected to have hiked/scrambled the distance and the elevation in the past 2 months.

The coordinator has not done this trip before so route finding might be possible.

Please check the event for a possible last minute update.
