Distance: 16km round trip
Elevation Gain: 935m
Key Elevations: Trailhead 1605m, Summit 2541m

From Copeland's book, Mt. Burke is the most exciting K-Country peak mere hikers can fling themselves at in shoulder-season and expect to summit.

The trail becomes vague about 600m from the trailhead when you hit the drainage, but the walking itself is still easy. Turn left on the old road about 1km from the trailhead. The trail gets a bit rougher here due to washouts; however, the narrow valley makes navigation straightforward.

About 2.5 kms from the start, you reach the junction to Mt. Burke, hopefully marked with a cairn, flagging and an old sign. Turn left (north) here, and begin ascending on sweeping switchbacks through forest that provides welcome shade on a hot day. Eventually you break out above the trees onto the rocky west ridge. The trail here is less defined, but basically you keep heading up. There is one dip, then you rise to the lookout which has come into sight.

Once we reach the summit, expect to spend a good amount of time up by the fire lookout (hopefully for an hour or so if conditions permit) for lunch and pictures. Please ensure that you bring some wind and rain gear.

Please note that the coordinator has not done this trip before. Please allow time/patience for unforseen circumstances.
