Participation in this event is conditional upon the acceptance and adherence to COC COVID-19 protocols (see link at the top of our home page). Failure to comply with these protocols may result in removal from this event and/or future events.

Please answer the following questions in the comments section during the sign-up process, in addition to signing the waiver:

  • Have you travelled in the last 14 days?
  • Are you showing any symptoms (fever, cough, loss of taste or smell) of COVID-19, flu or cold?
  • Have you been in contact with a confirmed or presumptive case of COVID-19, or with someone who has any symptoms of COVID-19, flu or cold?
  • Have you tested positive in the last 10 days or are you waiting for COVID-19 test results?
  • Are you associated with a setting that is currently having an outbreak and been instructed to get tested or self-isolate?
  • Have you read and understood the current restrictions that are club policy during the COVID-19 situation?

This will be an easy winter camping event in a remote wilderness area at eagle lake. We'll have fun with camp activities like cooking over a campfire, maybe some bushcrafting, possibly shelter building depending on conditions there. Mainly a getaway weekend, eat lots and be merry after some work. We'll do lunch, dinner, next day breakfast and have lunch on the way out at Sundre. If there is time, maybe a short hike/snowshoe locally. Location is approx 77km west of Sundre near Ya Ha Tinda ranch. Road is expected to be maintained, however not guaranteed especially after a snowfall. The next day if we have time, we can go see horses at the ranch.

- This trip will involve driving on unpaved roads for approx 77km
- The snowshoe/hike in to the campsite will be short at about 4 km with little elevation
- No facilties, bring your trowel/shovel, own water or melt snow
- As at 22 Feb forecasted overnight low is approx -15c for the area.
- We'll be doing individual tenting unless you're from the same cohort/bubble.
- For meals, it will be individual but you're welcome to bring something to share if you'd like.
- We will be foraging for firewood. Bring a small backpacking saw.
- Anything goes event, don't be uptight about stuff.

Required Items to Bring:


- Winter camping stuff and clothing.
- Waterproof layers and adequate layers for the cold.
- Headlamp, flashlight or lantern
- Snowshoes and microspikes (which we use will be determined then)
- Small backpacking saw
- Liquid white gas/gasoline/kerosene type fuel stove. Propane/butane stoves pretty much don't work well in the colder temps or you can cook over the campfire
- Personal shelter like a tent or a small tarp.
- Sleeping bag and sleeping mat rated to your personal temperature comfort levels. Suggest a -15 comfort rating or higher
- Snow shovel
- Lots of yummy food
- Personal First Aid Kit
- Personal covid PPE
