We will be more than happy to see you at another event once it is considered safe for you to do so! If you have to withdraw from the event due to COVID-19 exposure or symptoms, you will receive a total refund.

Failure to comply with these protocols may result in removal from this event and/or future events.

This is our opportunity to do the Jasper to Banff ride without all of the usual American tourists on the highway. The ride is completely supported by Ben Johnson of Mountain Madness Tours. Ben is THE BEST. I have done several trips with him, including this one, in the past and couldn't recommend him any higher.

Total tour distance: 288-312km (depending on whether you choose to take on any of Ben's additional "bonus trips" for a little extra mileage).

Itinerary:

  1. Day 1, 2nd July: Transfer to Jasper, ride Icefields Parkway to Sunwapta Falls - Total Distance: 50km
  2. Day 2: 3rd July: Sunwapta Falls to Saskatchewan River Crossing - Total Distance: 98km
  3. Day 3, 4th July: Bow Pass to Lake Louise - Total Distance: 85km
  4. Day 4, 5th July: Final ride into Banff/Canmore - Total Distance: 60 to 85km

When you put your name on the waiting list, I will e-mail you the complete itinerary document.

Note that the following weekend (8th-12th) may be a backup opportunity because Ben is expecting his currently-booked American group to have to cancel. If you're interested in the trip, but those dates work better for you, please put that in the comments when you register.

To register for this trip:

  1. Put your name on the waiting list;
  2. Register and pay with Ben BY THE CUTOFF DATE using this link;
  3. When I receive confirmation from Ben that you've registered and paid, I will move your name to the attendee list

Transport:

  • We will arrange up to three locations in Calgary for Ben to pick up us, plus our bikes. These locations must be along the route from Calgary towards Banff, entering Calgary from the north (Ben will be coming from Edmonton). It will also be possible to meet Ben at one location in Edmonton if that's where you're at.

NOTE that the registration cut-off date is the date for which we must achieve our minimum number of paid attendees. It will still be possible to add more people, up to the maximum, up until June 18.

Required Items to Bring:
- A moderate level of fitness
- Confirmation of your first COVID vaccination (paper, or screen shot of it from the "myhealth" website)
- A road/cross/touring/mountain bike (with slick tires) or a Mountain Madness rental bike
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:
  1. Van leaving Edmonton around 5AM - you can be on it if you live in Edmonton, but it will be a long day in the van! If this is your situation, let's talk - those of us coming from Edmonton might agree to drive down to Calgary the night before and take a cheap hotel for the night.
  2. First pick-up in Calgary approximately 8AM
  3. Last pick-up leaving Calgary at 9AM
