Distance: 13.6 km round trip
Elevation Gain: 332 m

Come out and join us in celebrating Melanie's 500th COC event! Eagle Hill is a moderate shoulder-season hike in the Sibbald Lake Day Use Area off Hwy 68. It is an out-and-back hike with moderate elevation gains and views of the Bow River Valley. We will get an earlier start to beat the crowds in the parking lot (and on top). Our pace will be relaxed but steady (about 3 - 4 km/hr). Fast hikers are welcome but will be expected to wait for the group. This is a great way to get your hiking season started if you haven't been out to the mountains yet, or a great change of scenery for novice hikers who are looking for a transition towards the more intermediate hikes.

In the event of a long wait-list, your coordinators are willing to split the event into two groups with staggered start times. If it's full and you are interested, be sure to add your name to the list!

How to Get There:
Event Directions:NOTE: As of June 1st, you will need a Kananaskis Conservation Pass to attend this event. Please see the Alberta Parks website for more information: Kananaskis Conservation Pass

Follow the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) west and take the Highway 68 exit. (Note: the road will turn to gravel once you enter the park). Pass by the Jumping Pound Demonstration forest and watch for the signs for the Sibbald Lake Camping area on the right.

Take the road / exit towards the campground and at the open 4- way stop, turn left towards the Deer Ridge Trailhead parking area (try this first) or go straight towards the Sibbald Lake Day Use Area. Either lot is fine - we will meet on the gravel patch the fork between the two roads at 9 a.m. as we have to back-track to get to the trail. Google has a very good map if you use the satellite view.

Notes:
***There will be no carpool for this event but members may connect with one another to arrange their own carpools.***
