Itinerary:
Disc Golf #164 ~ Beginners Always Welcome - Doubleheader Game 2 @ Stanley Park ~

This is a doubleheader - sign up for one event or both. Game 1 at Lindsay Park starts at 11:30am with game 2 at Stanley Park getting underway at 2:20pm. In between games those interested can join me for a refreshment on the Mcdonalds patio located halfway between the courses on Macleod Trail at 38th Ave SW.

This new temporary 16 hole course uses tonals versus baskets and is located in Stanley Park. It is a great course for working on your short game as most holes are on the shorter side.

Disc Golf is played much like regular golf, but instead of trying to hit a ball into a hole, players attempt to get discs into a basket in the least amount of throws. Similar to clubs in ball golf, there are different discs for each shot. There are hundreds of discs available on the market which generally fall into three categories: drivers; midranges and putters. It is recommended that you have one of each to start although one could get away with just a midrange (such as a 'Buzz') in the beginning. Frisbees are usually not suitable as they do not fly far enough but they'll suffice if you just want to give the game a try.

Beginners are always welcome but basic throwing skills are helpful in getting the most out of the game. If you participate in sports such as softball or ultimate frisbee, you should pick the game up fairly easily. Games are pretty casual and scorekeeping is optional. The goal here is to simply have fun while enjoying the great outdoors. If you do not have your own discs but want to give it a try we have plenty of extras on hand but you'll need to bring your own sanitizer to clean them before use.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:PARKING: There are two parking lots on either side of the Outdoor Pool where we will be meeting.
MAIN PARKING LOT (meeting spot) is located directly in front of the Stanley Park Outdoor Pool at Riverdale Avenue & 4th Street SW (accessed from Elbow Drive using Lansdowne Avenue.)

SECONDARY LOT (easier if using 42nd Ave SW off Macleod Trail) is just 2 1/2 blocks west of Macleod Trail on the right. From there take the paved path in a northwesterly direction past the tennis courts towards the outdoor pool, just a 2 minute walk to the main lot and our meeting spot. The parking lots can be quite busy at times. If necessary, look for additional parking along 42nd Avenue.

PLEASE MEET BY THE ENTRANCE TO THE OUTDOOR POOL
