The trail to Baldy Pass is a short, scenic climb through a rubble-strewn valley leading to fine views of the foothills at the pass. From the highway, you climb moderately through an aspen forest on an old road that becomes a dirt trail by the time you cross the creek bed. Follow rock cairns into the narrow valley where the massive slopes are covered with rock debris shattered by frost action. Beyond the pass we will head up along the rocky ridge to gain more elevation and be rewarded with even better views. The front range will be visible to the west, and the prairies will be to the east. !"

Please remember in winter hiking conditions we never know what we will encounter(icy sections) therefore some form of ice traction is probably a good idea to bring on every winter hike in the mountains. "MicroSpikes" or "Icers" (MEC, Switching Gears or Breathe Outdoors) are great!

Please note that there will be snow on the trail, therefore, gaiters are strongly recommended.
We will be hiking at a moderate pace with a couple short breaks so we stay warm.
